Note: Come to this legal clinic to learn about recent revisions to the laws regarding name and gender marker changes. Beginning September 1, 2018, people residing in CA may file a petition with the superior court in any county seeking a judgment recognizing the change of gender to female, male, or nonbinary. The process for obtaining a different gender marker and name change also became easier as of September 2018, no longer requiring a physician’s affidavit. In addition, a nonbinary option on one’s CA ID or driver’s license also became available beginning on January 1, 2019. If you would like more information on this new law, or assistance in changing your name and/or gender on your ID documents, please signup for this free event on March 23rd.
