Armando Paone

"I am inspired"

“Armando joined our volunteer team and instantly was acclimated to the Center; he became a valuable resource. Armando provides a wealth of knowledge and has always been willing to donate his time, energy and welcoming personality to anyone who comes through the front doors. I’m honored to partner with Armando and excited to acknowledge him as our June Volunteer of the Month. He’s definitely earned it. Congratulations Armando!”

Community Programs Coordinator

Center: You are involved with our Information & Referral program; what inspires you to continue volunteering with the Center?

AP: I am inspired to continue volunteering at the Center not only because of the broad spectrum of resources that we make available to our community, but also because I have had the opportunity to see the results off our assistance with certain individuals who have come back to share their story.

Center: How has working at the Center challenged you personally?

AP: The most challenging aspect of my work here has been that of learning how to view each particular situation as it is presented and to determine exactly what needs to be done.

Center: Is there a memory that sticks out in the time that you’ve been volunteering with the Center?

AP: My most outstanding memory regarding my work at the Center goes back to my very first day at the front desk. A young man came to us asking about asylum. He was from a country in North Africa where Muslim law condemns homosexuality. Because of this man's situation I learned about the process of seeking asylum and that San Francisco is a "sanctuary city".
