"Aram is always a joy to work with at any Center event. He comes prepared to help out with a bright smile and upbeat attitude. He is the type of person who sees the sunny side in any situation. He is also a gifted public speaker, problem solver and important asset to the Youth Program here at the Center. Thank you Aram for everything you do!"- Yvette Flanagan, Youth Program Coordinator
Interview with Volunteer of the Month - Aram:
The Center: What is most memorable to you about your time at the Center?
Aram: When I first came to the center was the most memorable time, it was the time when I viewed the center as my only home and safespace, I remember how I use to wait outside the doors of the center everyday at 12:00 am and leave when the staff of youth space left. I was homeless and alone, and I needed the safespace.
The Center: Why should others volunteer with the Center?
Aram: Because the center is an important beacon of rainbow light shining across SF and this country, showing the world that there is safespace to be who you want to be and being a part of that beacon of light is privilege. because you get to help people from all walks of life, and get experience what is happening in the really world outside SF bubble.
The Center: What has volunteering in your community meant to you?
Aram: For me it started with the idea of help the youth space staff with small tasks like cleaning, setting up, fixing technical issues, I never really called volunteering that word came later to describe what I did. for me it was more like this the space I eat, drink, lay-down, watch movies and so on, so why not help keep it clean and running.
The Center: Thank you Aram, so much for volunteering with us. I think your story will inspire other people to give back. We can always use more volunteers and we would love to have you join our team!
