“Anthony first became involved with the Center as part of the Soiree 2014 planning committee. His outgoing and personable attitude allowed the Center to branch out to new individuals and organizations within the community. Anthony’s continued dedication, drive and enthusiasm towards the betterment of the community and the Center’s programs and outreach make him a stellar choice for Volunteer of the Month."

Center: What do you love about volunteering?
Anthony: Meeting interesting and engaged people, while benefiting a great cause.
Center: What is most memorable to you about your time at the Center?
Anthony: My first experience at the center was my most memorable experience. I moved to San Francisco immediately after coming out. During this uncertain period, I began looking for role models. I reached out to David Tsai, who I met through my law school and who happened to be on the Board of the Center. He took me to the BOLD awards ceremony. At the event, the mentorship I received from David and the friendships I created with everyone who attended, gave me an authentic sense of community and support that resonated deeply with me personally, and helped me feel more accepting of myself.
Center: Why should others volunteer with the Center?
Anthony: The center has many great youth programs, and is a welcoming and supportive place for young LGBT community members to meet.
Your support as a volunteer directly benefits programs like these. It is also a great place to meet friends, role models, and mentors!
