Born and raised in San Francisco, Roberto has worked in social justice and community-building for over 18 years. Currently the Director of Development and Marketing at the SF LGBT Center, and employed at the Center since 2002, Roberto spent nearly a decade heading many of the Center’s innovative services and cultural programs. As Director of Community Programs, he led the arts and culture programs; children, youth and family services; and community development and policy initiatives. Prior to that, Roberto managed peer-led HIV prevention programs for gay and bisexual youth at the STOP AIDS Project in San Francisco. Over the years he has also served on the LGBT Advisory Committee of the San Francisco Human Rights Commission and as president of the board of directors of Bay Area Young Positives. In 2012, Roberto was appointed by Mayor Edwin Lee as a City Commissioner for the San Francisco Arts Commission where he currently serves as Vice-President. Roberto holds a B.A. in Social Science with an emphasis in Human Sexuality Studies from San Francisco State University and he resides in San Francisco.
