Changing the lives of homeless men and women since 1978 For more than 30 years, Community Awareness & Treatment Services, Inc. (CATS) has devoted its energy to passionately serving the chronically homeless population providing safe and accessible services. We have a network of seven programs that offer a continuum of care where dedicated staff give support, transportation and housing. Our goal is to reach farther to serve those who are the hardest to reach.
24 hours daily (Psychiatric Emergency Services) Short-term counseling of individuals/families, crisis intervention, medication, referrals to community clinics and hospitalization. Psychiatric evaluations on emergency basis. SFGH requests clients be referred to Westside Crisis Clinic prior to 7pm. Sign Language, Spanish, Mandarin, French, Cantonese, Italian, Tagalog, German, Cambodian, Vietnamese. Wheelchair accessible.

DUCC is a social model rehabilitation approach to crisis intervention. The program is designed to assist SFGH Psychiatric Emergency (PES) and other hospital emergency services by accepting adult clients in psychiatric crisis who do not require hospitalization but who are currently taken to PES for evaluation and treatment. Call and ask for a clinician to present a client. In many cases we can help arrange transportation.
Gender Spectrum provides an array of services to help youth, families, organizations and institutions understand and address concepts of gender identity and gender expression, including how societal, cultural, organizational and community definitions of gender can be detrimental to any young person that does not fit neatly into these categories.
CUAV works to build the power of LGBTQQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning) communities to transform violence and oppression. We support the healing and leadership of those impacted by abuse and mobilize our broader communities to replace cycles of trauma with cycles of safety and liberation. As part of the larger social justice movement, CUAV works to create truly safe communities where everyone can thrive.
Transgender Health Services improves access and quality of healthcare for transgender San Franciscans via its Transgender Surgery Access Program for Healthy San Francisco and Medi-Cal patients. It also partners throughout the SF Health Network to strengthen competency in transgender healthcare at all access points.
A Woman’s Place (AWP) is the only 24-hour supportive residential services in San Francisco offering emergency shelter and long-term treatment programs to women and transgender women with special needs due to mental disabilities, sexual or domestic violence, drug and alcohol abuse, and HIV+/AIDS-related issues.
