We are renovating our building to ensure that we are here for generations to come! During our remodel Center programs and services will continue to operate.
San Francisco has long been a destination for the LGBT community where we are able to live our lives out and proud. For many of us San Francisco is the Emerald City.
Yet San Francisco does not always shine brightly for all of us. Finding a job or accessing affordable housing is harder than it used to be – especially for LGBT youth and transgender people. Even non-profits working to help our community are being priced out of the city today.
In order for our community to thrive, the Center needs to be the most vibrant home possible where people connect with each other, resources, and opportunities. Our remodel will:
· Triple the amount of affordable non-profit office space available, welcoming new partner tenants and adding primary medical care, mental health, substance abuse, and legal services to the Center’s existing programs.
· Transform our lobby to make it more inviting, create new community meeting spaces and upgrade the Rainbow Room, our largest multi-purpose event space.
· Create long-term sustainability by designing a more efficient floor plan that allows our building to pay for itself and build a capital reserve fund to support future building needs.
A renovated building will allow us to invest more financial resources towards innovating programs and increasing social, cultural, and recreational offerings for all of us. This renovation will be fully funded by a new federal financing vehicle.
From now through our renovation you will be able to access the Center for pre-arranged appointments, events, and activities that are offered through our youth services and economic development programs.
We look forward to keeping you updated on this exciting project and celebrating the renovation of our home with you once completed.
