Visions From The Inside: Illustrated Stories of Detained Mothers and Children

Join CultureStrike, The SF LGBT Center and Queer Cultural Center at the opening reception of Visions From The Inside: Illustrated Stories of Detained Mothers and Children.

Visions From the Inside is a visual art project inspired by letters penned by detained migrants. By visually illustrating these letters we aim to bring awareness and a better sense of the realities that people are experiencing inside of for-profit detention facilities, what led them to migrate in the first place and, most importantly, highlight the resiliency of the migrant spirit.

Participating artists include Breena Nuñez (CA), Dolly Li (CA), Favianna Rodriguez (CA), Fidencio Martinez (IA), Gabrielle Tesfaye (NY), Jess X Chen (CA), Julio Salgado (CA), Mata Ruda (NY), Micah Bazant (CA), Robert Trujillo (CA), Zeke Peña (TX) and many more.

This project was a collaboration between CultureStrike, Mariposas Sin Fronteras and End Family Detention.

In addition to Visions From The Inside, CultureStrike artist Julio Salgado will be showing pieces from his #QueerArtistsAlive collection.

"Visions From The Inside" will be shown on the second floor outside of the Rainbow Room and the #QueerArtistsAlive series will be shown in the first floor at the Café Space in the SF LGBT Center.
