TAX TALK: Same sex married couples and registered domestic partner filings

TAX SEMINAR for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community

Tuesday, March 5th Registration at 5:30pm, event 6:00 – 9:00pm

Please join CA State Controller John Chiang, in partnership with BALIF and the Center, for an informational seminar specially designed for registered domestic partners and same-sex married couples. Come enjoy light refreshments and get updates on recent developments and trends in federal and state law and other tax policies affecting the LGBT community. LGBT Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Clinic

Saturday, March 9th 10am to 4pm

Low-income households can take advantage of our FREE tax filing assistance clinic. Skilled volunteers will make sure that your taxes are filed correctly, confidentially and securely. Registered domestic partners and same sex married couples welcome, and childcare is available upon request. Appointments are strongly encouraged.  Maximum household income is $51,000. TAX TALK: LGBT tax implications and planning for life changes

Wednesday, March 13th 6:30pm - 8:00pm

Our second Tax-Talk with H&R Block will help you prepare for the tax implications of major life changes.  A panel including CPA Sarah Vestal who specializes in federal taxation, Certified Financial Planner Mary Anne Courtney, an expert from H&R block and moderated by Ilona Turner, Legal Director from the Transgender Law Center will help you prepare for life events including transition, retirement, buying a home and having a child.
