SF LGBT Center Statement on the Passing of Mayor Ed Lee

(San Francisco, CA, December 12, 2017)—San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee passed early Tuesday morning. He was 65.

Statement from SF LGBT Center Executive Director Rebecca Rolfe:

“We are deeply saddened by the news of Mayor Ed Lee’s passing early today. Our thoughts are with his wife Anita, his daughters Brianna and Tania, and his entire family. The son of Chinese immigrants and the city’s first Asian American mayor, Lee worked tirelessly to represent all San Franciscans, especially those in need. He lived a life of service, advocating for tenant and immigrant rights, people suffering from substance abuse, and those experiencing homelessness. Mayor Lee was a compassionate person and a steadfast ally of the LGBTQ community. His support of our work was immeasurable and we will be eternally grateful.”
