Are you LGBTQ? Have you ever felt like you’ve been told that the Church and spirituality is not for you? For LGBTQ people the Church can start out as a spiritual home but homophobia in the church can also makes it one of the most damaging environments we’re ever exposed to.

All of us have internalized hurt from Church, even if we didn’t grow up in it. We want to provide a space to process that harm and move towards new ways of experiencing a life of faith.

Join licensed therapist Candice Czubernat and Stephen Gundlach for a time of conversation and stories about trauma from church and the possibility of reconstructing and re-appropriating a healthy spiritual life as an LGBTQ person.

Candice Czubernat is a speaker, writer and licensed therapist. She's also a married lesbian and mother of two. She's the founder of The Christian Closet, a web-based counseling and spiritual direction practice where she and her team specialize in seeing those needing a safe place to reconcile their faith with their sexual and gender identities.

Stephen Gundlach is a pastor at City Church San Francisco. Through his own journey reconciling his sexuality with his faith (Stephen is gay) he became convinced that LGBTQ people have a unique perspective and contribution to make to the spiritual life. He’s excited to create spaces for LGBTQ people to draw out the wisdom within their own experience and discuss how that relates to faith.
