Transcode SF

TranscodeSF (http://transcodesf.org/) was developed in 2012, as a free programming class for trans and gender non-conforming folks. Today, TranscodeSF (http://transcodesf.org/) has grown to a community of trans & GNC people currently in tech and aspiring coders, engineers, designers, and newcomers to the industry.

TranscodeSF (http://transcodesf.org/) teaches folks computer programming and software engineering skills through a co-working space, series of free classes, study groups, and hands on events with tech industry experts. TranscodeSF (http://transcodesf.org/) actively networks with allies in the tech industry and often invites allies to teach new guest series classes and to provide much needed mentoring opportunities. All events are open to allies.

The goal of TranscodeSF (http://transcodesf.org/) is to develop more diversity in tech and to build a community of trans and gender non conforming individuals currently in or aspiring for a career in technology through skill building, mentoring, and networking opportunities.

TranscodeSF (http://transcodesf.org/) is a collaboration partnership with the SF LGBT Center’s Trans Employment Program (http://www.teeisf.org/). The mission of Trans Employment Program (http://www.teeisf.org/) is to educate employers as well as to connect job seekers to trans friendly and sustainable employment. Additional Trans Employment Program (http://www.teeisf.org/) services at the Center include one-on-one coaching and job search support for all trans* individuals. Also, check out our LGBT Career Network (http://www.meetup.com/LGBTQ-Career-Network/) on Meetup.

The Prepared Renter

San Francisco is currently experiencing a housing crisis; purchase prices are high and rents are even higher! Come to our workshop to learn about affordable rentals in the city for those making less than $42,800/year. (Based on Area Median Income for San Francisco HUD Metro Area for a 1 person household; 2 person household income limit is $46,600).

In this two hour workshop for the LGBTQ community and allies we will cover what affordable rental options are available in the city, what it takes to qualify for these opportunities, and how to apply. The San Francisco housing market conitnues to be a competitive environment, especially for below market rate units, so let the Center help you become the best prepared renter you can be.

To RSVP: https://lgbtrentalworkshop.eventbrite.com

Contact Leisa Boswell at leisab@sfcenter.org or (415)865-5652 if you have questions.
